Misty Mountain, Winding River

In our second topic, your child will be exploring rivers and mountains from around the world. They will start by looking at the different features and stages of rivers and exploring the different uses of rivers, such as transport, power and habitats. They will be identifying how rivers have changed landscapes over periods of time and studying the water cycle and the effects of flooding. Moving onto the study of mountains, your child will be identifying types of mountains and their features. They will have the chance to look at an Ordnance Survey Map, learning how to spot mountains using contour lines. They will also be studying the differences in altitudinal zones. At the end of the project, your child will create an information pack for The Lake District National Park.

States of Matter

This project teaches children about solids, liquids and gases and their characteristic properties. They observe how materials change state as they are heated and cooled, and learn key terminology associated with these processes.

PE Kit

PE kits consists of a white top, dark shorts/skirt, pumps/trainers, dark jumper and dark jogging bottoms, not leggings. Please ensure that your child has a comfortable spare pair of shoes for outdoor PE (as their others may be muddy or wet from being outside). If your child has their ears pierced, please provide tape or ensure they can remove their own earrings. Pupils should come to school wearing their PE kit on PE days.

Our PE Days are Monday and Tuesday.
