Rocks, Relics and Rumbles
In this topic, children will dive into the depths of the Earth and explore the layers beneath us. There will be a heavy focus on volcanoes, their features and how they are formed. Children will look at significant volcanoes around the world, learning which ones are active and which ones are dormant. Later on in our topic, we will travel to the ancient city on Pompeii and discover the effects of the eruption of Mt Vesuvius. We will also be exploring the causes and effects of earthquakes and tsunamis.
Science - Forces and Magnets
In our new science topic, children will learn about what forces are and the different types of forces that we use daily, including contact, non-contact and frictional forces. Children will learn how forces are measured by force meters and use them to investigate the force we use on objects around the classroom. After that, we will be exploring the world of magnets and learning about attraction and repulsion. We will explore magnetic fields and conduct investigations using different types of magnets.

Please ensure that your child has a comfortable spare pair of shoes for outdoor PE (as their others may be muddy or wet from being outside). If your child has their ears pierced, please provide tape or ensure they can remove their own earrings. Pupils should come to school wearing their PE kit on PE days.
Our PE Days are Thursday (outdoor) and Friday (indoor).
