Dates for your diary
Forest Day - Friday 9th October

Welcome back to Woodlands and to Year 3/4!

We hope you have all had a lovely summer holiday and are enjoying your first week back at school. J We are sharing this letter to give you some information about our timetable, learning and other class information.

Our topic for Autumn 1 is Mighty Metals; our learning this term will be linked to this theme and we will be reading The Tin Forest and The Iron Man. J

In Maple we will have PE on a Tuesday and a Wednesday this term. Please make sure that you bring your full PE kit into school this week, we will keep them here for the half term, unless they need to be sent back home to be cleaned.

Please make sure you have the following items of clothing:

A white top, dark shorts/skirt, trainers, dark jumper, dark jogging bottoms. If your child has their ears pierced, please provide some tape to cover them or ensure they can remove their own earrings.

Home Learning:

We will be sending a home learning booklet home each half term, containing spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPAG) practice, weekly spellings and times tables practice questions. Please hand this into us on a Wednesday and we will return it to you on a Friday.

In Year 3/4, we will test our spellings on Wednesdays. New spellings will be shared with the children through their English lessons during the course of the previous week. The first spelling test will take place on Wednesday 9th September. There will be a section in the home learning booklet to practise the weekly spellings in.

Reading books will be changed weekly (Mondays). Please support your child with developing their reading skills by reading with them on a regular basis; this will really help to reinforce the reading skills we will be focusing on in school. The children will receive team point rewards for the reading they complete at home.

Thank you very much for the reading books from the summer term that we have already had returned; please could we ask you to return any other school reading books that may still be at home so we can re-issue them.

Further school information can be found on our school website; please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Thank you for your continued support,

Miss Dawson
