Homework

The children at The Woodlands have always produced incredible and imaginative pieces of homework, which we proudly place on display around our school for the other children, staff, parents and visitors to see.

Every child will receive a homework booklet with all the homework set week by week for the half term. The homework is now split into three sections that link directly to the standards in the new curriculum.

Expected homework - This includes reading a minimum of three times per week to an adult or sibling. This can be any reading material. Every 10 reads is recorded in the classroom and the child's name is put forward for a reading reward. Spellings are also included in the expected section - a sheet with the weeks' words is now provided so that the children have somewhere to practise and the teacher can see what their learning process is. Similarly with tables or number bonds - 2 sheets are provided linked to the tables that they are learning.

Exceeding expected homework - is a weekly piece of homework with either a sheet to complete or an ICT based activity to attempt. This task alternates weekly between English and Maths.

Greater Depth - is a project that can be selected from the list - this may be done over a few days or even weeks as it includes a range of tasks and skills.
