Forest School

What is Forest School?

Forest schools involve learning within a natural outdoor setting. The natural outdoor setting provides a unique learning environment that is not subjected to the restraints found within a typical indoor classroom. This in turn promotes children to grow confidence, take risks, develop self-esteem and challenge themselves in personal ways and to make and take informed but controlled risks. Forest school’s allows children to challenge themselves in ways in which they are personally developmentally ready for. It also provides children with the opportunities to embed the skills of respect, ownership and teamwork.

What Your Child Will Need

Your child will require appropriate clothing for the weather conditions and if not dressed appropriately unfortunately will not be able to take part in this exciting day. Appropriate clothing will include:

  • A water proof coat

  • Suitable footwear (Boots, wellies, old trainers etc.)

  • Warm clothing

  • Sun hat and cream if necessary.

  • A change of shoes for when indoors (school shoes, trainers etc.)

  • A plastic bag to put wet boots/clothes in.

Your child should come to school dressed in their outdoor learning clothes and will stay in them all day.

Thank-you for your on-going support,

Miss Hewitt
