Forest Freaky Friday
We had great fun during our forest day in Elm. First we went on an animal hunt and a mystery message hunt from 'Winnie the witch'! Wow 'Winnie' was hiding under the blue bin and Elm were the first KS1 class to find her!
Next we went into the Woodland and had a spooky game of 1,2,3 where are you? What great fun we all had with lots of sneaky hiding places found!
Finally to end the great day, we all went around the campfire and spoke about Halloween with the children dipping fruit into melted chocolate or syrup... YUM!!
Reading books will be changed weekly on Mondays and you child will also have an online bug club login to read e-books (see logins attached at the front of the red diaries). Reading will have a significant impact on pupil progress so reading as much as possible will help to support children's development across the national curriculum. Your child will also receive a pink wordbook. The pink wordbook will contain a short list of high frequency and common exception words that your child should be able to read from sight.

Bug Club Phonics

Bug Club is our new reading scheme within school which we are using to link our phonic, guided reading and home reading provision. This will help to provide us with a consistent approach to embed the reading and phonetic development for our children.

Encouraging the children to read their home reader and extra books on the children's online Bug Club accounts will help to support the children's development.

House points will be awarded for children reading regularly at home. We hope that the children enjoy bug club and enjoy reading some of the great books!
